About the project
Engineering for complex accommodation operations
VivreStays supports alternative accommodation for UK insurers, housing organisations and businesses. Bookings, extensions, availability and property coordination form a product with several connected platforms and services.
My contribution as a Senior Software Engineer
I work within the product team on platforms, APIs, integrations and AI components. The role combines feature implementation with architectural decisions, connecting systems and improving reliability. The product and its complete implementation are the result of team effort; this case study describes my engineering contribution.
Web platforms and API services
Next.js and React interfaces support operations and property management experiences. TypeScript and Node.js services, alongside Python and FastAPI APIs, connect these platforms to backend logic and data managed in MySQL and MongoDB. Service interfaces allow features to evolve within a shared ecosystem.
Integrations and background synchronisation
The integration component separates the API from workers and sync scheduling. Redis and BullMQ support durable processing, while connectors adapt data between external systems and the platform. One example is retrieving property information, normalising it and updating the data available to operational teams.
AI applied to property information
I work on developing and integrating components built around AI models. Within information-processing workflows, agents coordinated through CrewAI assist with extracting and structuring property content. Results are transformed into data that services can use, connecting AI-assisted interpretation with practical platform processes.
Architecture that supports product evolution
Separate interfaces, API services, integrations and AI processing support development with clear responsibilities. Queues and workers move longer operations out of the direct user response, while error handling and observability support maintenance across a product with several dependencies.
